LION'S BREATH - Relieve Tension in your neck and face with this easy breathing technique

Hey Guys! Join me for this fun tension releasing Lions Breath (simhasana) pose/breathing technique or pranayama practice. It may look at a little silly, but the benefits are pretty serious! Lions Breath Relieves tension in the chest and face. Lion’s Breath not only stretches the muscles in your face, but it also relieves tension and tightness while improving circulation. It’s an energetic and awakening breath that will also help to ease the mind. Lion’s Breath opens the throat chakra and helps to boost confidence. Like Ujjayi breathing, it’s a warming breath that will increase your internal temperature and better prepare you for yoga asana. An often-overlooked benefit of Simhasana is that it stimulates the platysma, a flat, thin, rectangular-shaped muscle on the front of the throat. The platysma, when contracted, pulls down on the corners of the mouth and wrinkles the skin of the neck. Simhasana helps keep the platysma firm as we age. According to traditional texts, Simhasana destroys disease and facilitates the three major bandhas (Mula, Jalandhara, Uddiyana). The hands and shoulder blades are sympathetically connected. As you spread the right palm on the right knee, feel how the shoulder blade spreads across your back. Similarly, as you press each palm against the same-side knee, feel how the same-side shoulder blade presses more deeply into the back, helping to lift the heart. SIDE PLANK CHALLENGE - Give your core muscles a work out with these versions of side plank!

Join me as we move thru the different versions of side plank (Vasisthasana). All the while strengthening the deep core muscles that run up and down the spine, and especially our abdominal muscles such as the transverse abdominis and the obliques. This is a full body strengthener, it will work your arms, your wrists, shoulders, hips, thighs and your entire core!! If you want abs of steel, side plank is where it's at!! The goal is to keep the hips from drooping, to keep a straight line from the shoulders to the edge of your foot. Side Plank also strengthens the deep muscles of your low back, so it can help with lower-back pain. If you're not able to hold a full side plank just yet, it's easy to modify: Instead of stacking your feet, lower your top foot to the ground in front of the bottom foot, creating a wider base to balance on. You can also set the knee closest to the floor on the ground. Since this exercise builds muscle, it also burns calories. This, in turn, helps to also burn fat. Do what you can stop when you need to take a break, keep your breath steady and smooth, if you no longer can breath thru your nose it's time to rest! Try doing this workout a couple days a week and begin to see a huge change in your body! Let me know in the comments down below what you thought and which ones you struggled with : ). 15 MINUTE ASHTANGA YOGA SEQUENCE - All Levels, daily minimum

Hey friends! Join me for this all levels 15 minute Ashtanga Yoga daily minimum. This is a great traditional sequence to practice when you are short on time but can fit in just 15 minutes for yourself. We do 3 Sun Salutations A, 3 Sun Salutations B and the final 3 poses of the primary series. You will stretch, strengthen, lengthen and breathe thru this practice feeling incredibly at peace afterwards! This would make a perfect early morning yoga routine before work, great on your lunch break or even good before you settle down to make dinner. Hope you enjoy it!

20 MINUTE ASHTANGA YOGA SEQUENCE - All Levels, full body workout

Hey Everyone, This is a Short and Simple 20 minute Ashtanga Yoga Class. Perfect for when you want to get in a full body workout with some meditative breath but only have 20 minutes to spare. This Ashtanga yoga class is easily accessible to beginners, we start with Sun Salutations, move thru the first two Forward folds, (Padangusthasana, Padahastasana) Triangle pose, (Trikonasana), Pyrmaid pose, (Parsvottanasana), and on to seated poses including Staff pose (Dandasana), Head to Knee pose, (Janusirsasana A), Wheel Pose, (Urdhva Dhanurasana) Padmasana with Janu Mudra, and finally, Final rest pose (Shavasana). This class is great if you have never practiced Ashtanga Yoga before, we go slow enough you will not feel overwhelmed. Grab a block if you like to use one and join me!

Restorative Yoga is great way to relax, we use blankets and pillows to support our bodies in super gentle poses that help to slowly open up and stretch our muscles. If your having trouble sleeping this is a great sequence to do before bed or any time of the day. Put on your favorite comfy clothes, grab some extra pillows, lower the lights and find some peace.
